Sapthagiri NPS University Partners with Google to Launch Agentic AI Programme in Karnataka
Sapthagiri NPS University partners with Google to introduce an Agentic AI programme in Karnataka. The initiative aims to strengthen AI education, research, faculty development and industry collaboration through Google’s technology expertise.
The MoU signing and file exchange took place between SNPSU and Google Cloud, with Shanoop, Head, Google AI GTM, India, and G. D. Manoj, Pro-Chancellor, SNPSU, representing the respective organisations.
The collaboration aims to strengthen AI education, research and industry engagement by exposing students to emerging technologies and practical applications of intelligent systems. It is also intended to develop the capabilities of students and faculty, enabling them to engage meaningfully with the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Shanoop, Head, Google AI GTM, India, said the collaboration marked the beginning of a broader vision for technology-led education. He highlighted the initiative’s potential to serve as a model for progressive institutions seeking to integrate emerging technologies into academic learning and prepare students for an increasingly AI-driven world.
G. D. Manoj, Pro-Chancellor of SNPSU, emphasised the need to view AI beyond its potential impact on employment, describing it as a powerful tool for extending human capability. He noted that educational institutions have an important role in helping students understand artificial intelligence, use it responsibly and harness its potential to develop meaningful solutions for society.
Highlighting the growing importance of integrating AI across academic disciplines, Dr. Jayanthi V, Vice Chancellor of SNPSU, pointed to the increasing relevance of emerging technologies throughout higher education, including medicine and allied health sciences. She highlighted potential applications in research, diagnostics, teaching and learning, stressing the need to incorporate AI capabilities into curricula while strengthening faculty development, student training, research and innovation.
The partnership brings together expertise from Google Cloud, Google for Education and Google AI, creating opportunities to connect academic learning with industry knowledge, technology platforms and real-world applications. Navisha Prabhakar, Regional Head – South, Google for Education, highlighted the role of technology-enabled education in helping institutions and learners respond to changing future demands.
For SNPSU, the agreement forms part of a broader institutional effort to establish a stronger foundation for AI education, research, innovation and industry collaboration. Dr. H. Ramakrishna, Registrar, SNPSU; Dr. Prashanth Kumar H. P., Director – Marketing, SNPSU; and Shashank K R, Director – Admissions, SNPSU, were among the university leaders supporting the initiative and its wider institutional vision.
The industry dimension of the collaboration is further reinforced by the participation of Surya Nigam – Google, and the CloudReign team, bringing technology expertise and industry perspectives to the partnership.
Deshmukh Omkar, OSD – Tech Partnerships, SNPSU, has been closely involved in developing the university’s technology partnerships and strengthening its engagement with the emerging technology ecosystem.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Google Bengaluru-Ananta campus in the presence of Dr. A. M. Nagaraja, Registrar – Evaluation, SNPSU, and Dr. Mahendrababu, Dean, SoET, SNPSU, along with senior representatives from SNPSU, Google for Education and CloudReign.
The collaboration represents a step towards SNPSU’s vision of creating an academic environment in which emerging technologies are not merely studied but actively explored, applied and developed through education, research and industry engagement.
The Agentic AI programme is envisioned as the starting point of a broader initiative at Sapthagiri NPS University, bringing together learning, research, industry expertise and innovation to prepare students to participate meaningfully in an AI-driven world.
For the university, the partnership extends beyond the introduction of a new academic programme. It reflects an effort to make emerging technology an integral part of the university experience while strengthening the connection between students’ present-day learning and the technologies shaping tomorrow.
